Next Thursday  is Independence Day, a day we celebrate freedom.  Sunday is about half way between, and I can’t help but connect Paul’s notion of freedom to proclaim the Kingdom of God is near, and July 4th. I am also drawn to Luke’s writing about the cost of exercising one’s freedom to do so. In an age of “I” this and “I” that, of growing mistrust of all authoritative structures, I wonder what freedom “to” is coming to mean? I ponder from whence answers will arise. I doubt the backyard grill – but scripture is full of bigger surprises filled with Hope.

Who will go dancing with me?

The title come from a Ballard titled “Who’ll go Waltzing Matilda with me?”  about the return of an Australian Regiment from the battle of Gallipoli in WWI. I’ll leave it to you to investigate further.  Among the images is life as a dance, and thus the inspiration for a title as I seek to share thoughts, questions, inspiration, revelations, realization and who knows what that emerge from daily and Sunday lectionary reading and study. The intent is four or five days a week. We shall see.
